Freshers Reps

What is a Freshers’ Rep?

A freshers’ rep is the essential part of any freshers week.  You could have the buildings, the organisation and the music, but without the reps the week would simply not happen.  Reps are key to ensuring all new students are welcomed and settled into the college, while being the key factor in helping the week run smoothly.

Throughout the week, there will be two different types of reps;

1. Flat Reps:

Allocated in pairs or threes, to either one or two flats, this type of rep is the freshers first point of contact.  This rep will also be on hand to ensure that each fresher in their allocated flat(s) are having a good time and any issues they may have are resolved.

2. House Reps:

Being a rep for a entire house, be it for any house in the courtyard or George Fox, this rep is the first point of contact for all flat reps in their respective buildings, ensuring they know what’s going on and helping to resolve any issues that arise throughout the week.

How do I Apply?

The application process for becoming a freshers’ rep in Fylde is always competitive, so it benefits to take care throughout the process, ensuring you pay attention to each stage.  The first stage is an online application form, which is available from the link below.  This form will go live at 10am on Monday 4th March 2013 and will close at 2pm on Tuesday 2nd April 2013.

If you are successful in this stage, you will then be invited back to a group interview, which you’ll receive more information about nearer the time.  You’ll be notified about your success after this stage.

It is this rigorous process which allows Fylde to have an unrivalled reputation for Freshers’ Reps, an unforgettable week for the freshers, peace of mind for their parents and a lot of support and advice from both the JCR and SCR.
